Senior Director, Global Facilities Management

Opportunity Snapshot:
This is a very unique and exciting leadership role for a fast growing medical device company. The position will lead the development and execution a global facilities strategy which includes global business offices and manufacturing facilities in Latina America, Japan, Europe, Singapore, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Irvine, Ca and Draper, UT. The ideal candidate will have 12+ years of progressive experience within corporate facilities management and strong familiarity with manufacturing operations which includes clean rooms.
Job Description:
This position is responsible for development of long range planning and strategy related to Edwards Lifesciences' worldwide facility design, construction, renovations and maintenance. Scope of work entails facility/real estate searches, facility design and construction, real estate negotiations, facility infrastructure (power, HVAC, compressed air, water, USP water, fire protection, etc.), building upgrades, risk management, regulatory compliance, security management, and facilities contract services management.
Major responsibilities include:
- Oversee the design, plan, construction and maintenance of buildings and supporting infrastructures for EW property and related interests
- Ensure that all work is performed in accordance with company requirements, permits and local ordinances, applicable codes and regulations, and best practices.
- Responsible for worldwide environment, health and safety (EHS) programs
- Negotiate and oversee plans, budgets and schedules for facility modifications and new construction, to include estimates on equipment, labor, materials, and other related costs.
- Oversee building space allocation planning and layout
- Provide direction and guidance to executive leadership on strategies related to facilities management and expansion
- Develop and recommend organization policies and procedures for global facility management
- Develop strategy and oversee facility contract services (i.e., security management, facilities maintenance)
- Ensure compliance with local, government and regulated agencies
- Develop global strategies for EHS compliance, and oversee corporate programs specific to EHS performance (i.e., emergency response, ergonomics, safety programs, recycling, and hazardous waste management)
- Responsible for quarterly Security Management Committee reviews
- Provide advisory support to plant EHS staff worldwide
Our Requirements:
- Requires a minimum of 12 years of related global facilities and construction experience (preferably in a related manufacturing, regulated industry.) Must have demonstrated best practice experience in space utilization, clean room technology and campus master planning.
- A Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Facilities Management, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Process Engineering or related discipline is required. An advanced degree is preferred.
- Requires up to 30% of travel internationally.
- Must exhibit solid leadership skills, and possess a strong aptitude of other functions that provide regular inputs into facility requirements (i.e., Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality Laboratories/Clean Rooms.)
- Requires a strong aptitude in construction and related contract management.
- Must have exemplary interpersonal skills, with an ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) with those from diverse backgrounds, as well as those in senior levels in the organization. Must be able to influence and develop collaborative relationships, building cooperation in the pursuit and achievement of organizational goals.
- Must be able to effectively work with individuals both internal and external to the organization.
- Must be able to collaborate with Legal and Global Supply Chain to negotiate and execute contracts, real estate transactions, property management services, etc.
- Interacts with consultants/engineers, contractors, architects, regulatory agency and government representatives, and internal employees primarily at the plant leadership and management levels.
