Job Summary:
- Oversees the activities related to the procurement of raw materials, parts, supplies, equipment, and services
- Ensures the purchase of these items is consistent with required levels of quality, delivery, price and total cost
- Works on challenges where situational analysis of the data requires a review of identifiable factors
- Exercises judgment within defined procedures and policies to determine appropriate action
- Advisor to team members and actively involved as required to meet schedules and resolve challenges
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead a diversified team of non-exempt and/or exempt Procurement Associates, with responsibility for results in terms of employee performance & development, quality, costs, and methods
- Project and team management related to low cost region sourcing (LCR), outsourcing of non-core technology
- Project and team management related to High Level Assembly (HLA), outsourcing of non-core technology
- Ensures team members follow established procedures, practices and policies when obtaining and evaluating quotations, placing orders and ensuring timely deliveries
- Analyzes and implements changes in policies and procedures which improve quality, cycle time, and/or cost of Procurement function
- Determines when additional sources of supply are needed. Identifies or directs identification of additional sources; develops and coordinates plans to qualify sources. Trains and directs procurement associates in analyzing supplier capacities and capabilities and making alternate sourcing decisions for all assigned commodities
- Ensures that all requisitions/purchase orders and changes are executed and documented in a timely manner, in accordance with established procedures and legal requirements
- Maintains complete commodity responsibility for assigned parts throughout the part life including: receipt of requisition, placement of orders, change orders, receipt of parts to stock, disposition of discrepant material and disposition of excess/obsolete items
- Measures and reports team member, supplier, and individual performance. Anticipates, identifies, and advises management and team members of current or potential challenges and initiates and/or recommends solutions
- Negotiates and writes complex, high risk/cost contracts and minimizes financial exposure to ThermoFisher as required
- Communicates project status, progress, challenges, and procedures to manager
- Exercises responsibility for training, developing and motivating team members
- Identifies areas of opportunity and/or risk for continuous improvement within the worldwide supply chain
- Works directly with key stakeholders (R&D, Engineering, Marketing, Sales, Finance, Operations, etc.)
- Develops and maintains metrics to track performance and business contribution
- Performs other related duties and assignments as required
Education and Experience Requirements:
- BA/BS in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering or similar discipline required
- Minimum of 5–7 years of Procurement (Sourcing & Purchasing) experience required
- Minimum of 3-5 years of PCBA (Printed Circuit Board Assembly) supplier management experience
- CPSM &/or CPIM certification preferred

- Solid knowledge of Supply Chain Processes (Planning, Supply Management, Logistics)

- Excellent ERP systems skills - (SAP in general, & SAP ECC 6.0, in particular)
- Excellent Microsoft Office Skills (Excel, Word, Power Point, etc)
