Purpose of Job:
In general, this position is responsible for ensuring the Company establishes consistent compensation and total reward practices that are market competitive, internally equitable, linked between company operating objectives and individual jobs, and supportive of Pashas values and employment culture. This position is responsible for implementing and maintaining a successful total rewards structure with pay, incentive systems, long-term incentives and non-cash quality of work life programs. This position interfaces with the Vice-President of HR, Assistant Director of HR, Payroll Manager and other key management personnel as it relates to the linkage of all forms of benefits and operational financial metrics in the total compensation system. Ensures that Pasha attracts and retains quality talent through effective compensation and total reward programs at all levels of the Company in support of the business strategy.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
- Primarily responsible for achieving two of the five key strategic goals of the Pasha Group related to the HR Business Partner model: 1) Administer and maintain an effective total compensation and rewards program that will attract and retain the best talent in the industry; 2) Deliver an effective Hay Compensation System in all operations, implement the Managerial Incentive Plan (MIP), and suggest appropriate benefits, non-cash incentives and quality of work life programs.
- Develops and administers an effective and efficient Hay Salary Grade System by ensuring proper evaluation and objective placement of all positions in the grading criteria.
- Develops and administers an effective Management Incentive Plan (MIP) for special segments of the management population.
- Continued analyses, revision or creation of company job descriptions to ensure internal/external equity, consistency with FLSA standards and EEO Job Classifications, market/industry equivalency, and other related factors to ensure job descriptions are consistent, fair, objective and legally defensible.
- Research, participate-in and/or obtain compensation/benefit surveys and conduct related analysis to ensure total reward equity and competitiveness at Pasha to become an employer of choice.
- Coach and instruct managers on the effective and efficient deployment and implementation of total cash (salary and incentives) systems in the company.
- Ensure appropriate alignment of job descriptions and salary grades in the talent acquisition and workforce development process.
- Ensure proper position alignment of performance management metrics and career development systems in the company.
- Working in concert with the VP of HR, ensure the total cash systems link to short term and long term benefits systems to remain competitive in the total compensation model. This may include additional recommendations of incentive, bonus, stock option and other special payment plans for specific segments of the population.
- Administers special executive compensation programs or related incentive programs as needed.
- Ensures all compensation programs are consistent with Federal, State and EEO requirements.
- Responds to all HR-related government, customer, internal audits and report requirements with respect to compensation, wage and hours issues.
- Facilitates appropriate salary studies and position evaluation studies as directed.
- Proposes appropriate non-cash reward systems to motivate and retain quality employees.
- Other duties as assigned.
Work Environment: Office. Will require up to 25% travel.
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Accounting, Finance or related field required. MBA or Masters Degree in Human Resources or related field desirable.
- Experience:
- 5+ years progressive years experience in Compensation and Total Rewards program management and administration in a mid to large size company. Experience in companies with multiple business lines or units preferred.
- Experience in the transportation industry preferred.
- Experience in dynamics of family owned business desirable.
Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of all key process areas of human resources with a key emphasis in: selection, job analysis studies, job description preparation, facilitating salary studies, applying wage and hour laws at Federal, State and International levels, domestic and international compensation and benefit systems, implementing variable incentive plans, Equal Pay Act, AA/EEO plans, employment and labor law, general financial acumen related to accounting practices, ROI, Strategic HR processes (Saratoga Metrics), HRIS/technology delivery systems, and appropriate compensation tracking systems.
Licenses/Certificates: Professional in Human Resources (PHR), Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) or Global Professional in Human Resources (GPHR). Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) or active participation in the World at Work (formerly American Compensation Association, Bay Area Compensation Association, etc.) and/or other certifications as appropriate desirable.
