Scholarship winners since 2004:
Applicants might find the winning essays of past applicants worthy of review. Where available, these are highlighted below.
While we had only five applicants this year, they were all wonderfully qualified. It made the decision a difficult one, and after much back and forth and counting of hanging chads, we decided upon two $2500 and one $1000 winners:
Fiona Fitzgerald: After working for over 14 years the banking industry and raising a family, Fiona has returned to school to earn a BS in Business last year and is now working on an MBA (with an emphasis in Decision Sciences) at SF State. Quite a journey for a lass from a small town in County Waterford, Ireland!
Liam LaFargue: A native of Mill Valley, Liam is currently learning about his major, International Business, firsthand as he teaches English in Buenos Aires this year as apart of a study abroad program by San Diego State. Liam has worked as an intern at the Pasha Group, continuing a family tradition of working in logistics.
Olivia Ortega receives a $1000 runner-up award. Olivia will be graduating with a BS in International Business and Logistics from the California Maritime Academy next spring. She has demonstrated great skills in logistics and leadership alike on her summer training cruise through the Pacific islands.
With our largest pool of applicants yet, the board awarded 3 additional $1000 runner-up awards.
Brigitte Grace Bayemi: MBA, Golden Gate University
Xuejiao Dutton, MBA: SFSU College of Business
